Cleveland Mountaineering Club Prospective Member process

The Cleveland Mountaineering Club (CMC) welcomes interest from prospective members over the age of 18 years. The Club is affiliated to The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and supports its Participation Statement -

“The BMC recognises that climbing, hill walking and mountaineering are activities with a danger of personal injury or death. Participants in these activities should be aware of and accept these risks and be responsible for their own actions and involvement ".

The CMC does not provide training or instruction, although many members are happy to share their experience and skills in an informal manner. The Club does not provide or loan equipment, anyone wishing to participate in CMC activities needs to provide appropriate personal gear, which for climbing would include a harness and helmet, and the ability to fit them correctly.

Should you wish to participate in a Club activity, please complete the personal information requested below and acknowledge acceptance of the above BMC participation statement. This will allow the Club to record you as a “Prospective Member” without obligation on either party, which will initiate BMC prospective membership, complete with Combined Liability Insurance for a period of 3 months at no cost.

Please note that Combined Liability Cover only applies to participation on official Club meets.

At the end of three months active participation as a prospective member, you will be eligible to apply for full membership.

Further details will be given regarding the membership process on submission of your provisional application.
